Some logo design services that designers provide only give JPG/PNG results. While it may not be a problem for small businesses, but raw logo files should be considered to support their business development. Therefore, before starting a design logo project, the designer and the client must agree on the file formats that the client will receive at the end.
Business owners must allocate a proper budget to create a high-quality logo that fits the company’s identity. But of course, the result will be worth what you pay for. So, let’s discuss why clients need to get a raw logo file and the format!
Why should clients have the raw logo files?
Brand logos represent the brand, build brand awareness, and also a way to gain customer loyalty. Therefore, the logo will be in promotional media for general or professional purposes, such as signage or billboards. Apart from that, these are some of the reasons why clients need raw files!
1. Why not? They should get what they paid for
The client pays for the results you agreed to at the beginning of the project. So, there seems to be no reason not to provide the master files to the client. The purchased logo should belong entirely to the client.
2. More flexible to edit
The final result in JPG/PNG form is not as flexible as a RAW file. However, it is easier for clients to edit or modify the logo design if future changes occur. Moreover, clients will find it easier to insert their logo designs into various media if they are still in RAW format.
3. Have high-resolution assets
Another benefit of having the RAW files is the high resolution. No matter how big the size is, a JPG/PNG file will not be as crisp as the RAW file. As a result, it will be noticeable that the logo will look choppy or even blurry if applied to large promotional media such as billboards.
What files should the client get?
The client might use the JPG/PNG logo only for general purposes. But in a professional logo design application, the client will need a RAW file format. So, make sure that the designer agrees to provide the following file formats:
- PNG Format
This format is most often used for graphic design files because of its light size compared to others. Even though they are more extensive than JPEG files, designers can compress them without losing data.
Another advantage is that PNG files support transparent colors, which are perfect for logo files and other needs. PNG helps you quickly to add the logo without background for any media.
- Adobe Illustrator (AI) and Photoshop (PSD) files
If the client requires a logo for various needs, AI and PSD files can be a good choice for flexibility. With these two file formats, your clients can make changes as necessary. It’s even easier because Adobe Illustrator can open PSD files and vice versa.
- PDF file (can be converted)
PDF files are universal, and almost all smart devices today can read PDF files. In addition, clients can convert PDF files through vector creation applications such as Adobe Illustrator.
Do not forget! Giving the raw logo files must also be agreed upon at the beginning.
The client and the designer must come to terms with the end of the agreement. Then start the project to make the logo transparent in mind.
